The Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, seeks applications for the position of Neutron Scattering Coordinator within its Energy Frontier Research in Extreme Environments Center (EFree). The main responsibilities in this position will be to (1) lead the development and application of neutron techniques in support of EFree projects, and (2) interact with EFree project groups and provide leadership in the development of new projects in the area of energy materials research. The Coordinator will also have the flexibility and freedom to carry out his/her own research program, consistent with the goals of the Center.

Minimum qualifications:  A PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field is required. Postdoctoral experience and experience with neutron scattering techniques are also required.

It is anticipated that the Coordinator will be based at the SNAP (Spallation Neutrons and Pressure) Beamline at the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, with periodic travel to the Geophysical Laboratory in Washington, DC.
